What sort of diamonds do we buy?
We ideally ask that your diamonds be:
-
Over 0.25 carat
-
In prime condition
-
A good size
We will make an offer on all diamonds and gemstones in prime condition based on the quality. Unfortunately we are unlikely to make an offer on precious stones in a poor condition, so it is advised that you hold on to these. However, if your stone is attached to a piece of gold, then you can still sell your gold for cash! All you need to do is remove the diamond to keep and send the remaining gold to us.
How do you clarify whether your diamonds are in prime condition?
We determine the value of your diamonds using the 4 C’s used to categorise all precious stones.
Cut
This is the style or design of the stone and refers to the symmetry in the stone rather than the shape (for example pear or oval cut). It is said to be the most important of the four C’s. This is because it affects the way light enters the stone and how many times it is reflected before leaving the stone. To the observer, the more times it is reflected the brighter the stone looks.

Clarity
This refers to the quality of the diamond, its visual appearance including how many inclusions or imperfections there are and the number of surface defects known as blemishes. There are many grades of clarity which are determined by looking at the stone at 10x magnification.
Colour
Diamonds vary in colour however the whiter the diamond, the more it is worth. If a diamond appears more yellow, it means it has more impurities which lowers the value. Diamond colour is usually determined using a spectrum.
Carat
A diamonds carat is balancing its size and weight. The larger the carat, the more money it is worth
