Job Title: Branch Manager

Reporting To:Area Sales Manager

Scope of job role:Responsible for the day to day operations of the store to maximise on sales and profit potential. Manage, coach and motivate staff to successfully achieve sales targets. Ensure company policy and procedure is adhered to and a high level of customer service is acheived.

Duties: -

  • Ensure that the store is merchandised to the highest standards at all times and is presented and highlighted to customers to maximise sales.
  • Create “retail theatre” to ensure the shop has vital energy creating a professional, friendly and welcoming atmosphere for customers and ensure they are greeted as they enter the shop to establish a relationship early on.
  • Maximise on customer lifetime value by ensuring they return to us and encourage them to refer their friends and family.
  • The store must be adequately stocked with all the available merchandise and products correctly priced.
  • Respond to customer complaints and comments promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure the Security and Health and Safety policies of the company are followed at all times for the welfare of the store, employees, customers and visitors.
  • Identify changes to improve the business, e.g. revising opening hours to ensure the store can compete effectively in the local market.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to trade effectively as and when required.
  • Complete all daily/weekly/ monthly tasks and other requirements for excellent time management, and effective stock management.
  • Ensure effective communication with all staff to ensure they are kept up to date on product knowledge or changes.
  • Foster and generate a positive and energetic environment to motivate staff using visual incentives and reward schemes.
  • Conduct performance reviews with each member of the team in accordance with the company guidelines.
  • Monitor staff performance to identify training requirements and provide one to one coaching to maximise employee performance.
  • Record and monitor sickness, punctuality and general behaviour of all staff and take action where standards are not being met and take disciplinary action where necessary in accordance with the instructions of HR.
  • Network in the local area with businesses to encourage recommendations
  • Ensure that staff rotas are prepared and communicated in advance and that staffing levels reflect the needs of the business.
  • Assist in accurately identifying items of value.
  • All cash and stock handling procedures are followed in line with audit and security requirements.
  • To maintain and adhere to auditing and stock transfers to minimise stock losses and right offs, and ensure returns are administered according to retail guidelines.
  • To assist and support the Area team as and when required.
  • Attending meetings, training sessions as and when required.
  • To work in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998)
  • Any other duties as and when required.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Solid experience identifying and valuing used gold, gems and other precious metal jewellery pieces
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of managing and motivating staff to deliver targets
  • Previous retail experience, ideally in the jewellery/Pawn trade
  • Performance management
  • Proven track record of customer service skill in a similar environment
  • Computer literate
