This year’s Dubai Shopping Festival, which starts today, 5 January, and runs until 5 February, is set to be bigger and better than ever, with a myriad of prizes to be won by anyone buying gold over the 32-day event.
Gold is one of the big attractions for shoppers heading to the high-end event, as Dubai has some of the world’s best gold jewellery retailers. In order to mark the occasion, these retailers are clubbing together to offer those buying gold the chance to win hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of gold in prizes.
On each of the 32 days of the festival, one lucky shopper will win half a kilo of gold, with a staggering three kilos of gold being given away on the final day. The Gold Mega Raffle, as it is subtly named, is being run by the
Dubai Gold and Jewelry Group with help from the organisers of the shopping festival itself.
The campaign and raffle are intended to further highlight what Dubai’s gold retailers have to offer for anyone looking to swap
cash for gold and grab themselves a beautiful piece of jewellery that they will treasure or keep to sell on when
gold prices rise further.
Aside from the gold raffle, Dubai is set to be filled with a range of exciting events throughout the month-long festival, including performances, promotions and shows. The raffle’s winner will be drawn each day between 10pm and 11pm and will form part of the live show at the Burj Steps arena. The show will also be broadcast live on Sama Dubai TV.
The Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, said, “Since it was launched in 1996, DSF has given away 664 kilos of gold in prizes. The gold raffles have always been amongst the most popular and eagerly anticipated highlights of the annual shopping festival.”
He added, "Be it through promotions, raffle draws or other events, our partners' participation has been an important factor in positioning Dubai as the shopping and entertainment hub in the region."
Although buying gold is still extremely popular all over the world,
selling gold that you have been hanging on to and no longer wear, or is broken, can be extremely lucrative thanks to the gold price per gram increasing dramatically. It’s now easier than ever to pop your gold items into the post and receive cash within days.
All over the UK, people are discovering that their scrap gold – even broken pieces of old jewellery – can be sold on for a tidy sum. Selling gold in order to spend the cash on a holiday to Dubai isn’t a bad idea!
